Developed first as an armchair, the Hancock Collection now includes a signature Side Chair and Table in the Shaker tradition, with clear markings of Moser craftsmanship.
The first hint of the pedigree of this custom hardwood furniture collection is in its name: Hancock. Shared by the living Shaker Village in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, the Hancock Collection finds its inspiration in the traditional ladder-back chair, bringing new vision and materials to a tried-and-true style.
The chair, recognized by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design with a “Good Design” Award, brings a contemporary perspective to a time-tested design. The Hancock Chair is available with Shaker tape cotton or vegetable-tanned saddle leather webbed seat. The integration of wood and fabric adds both visual and ergonomic appeal, without sacrificing durability.
The Hancock Table leverages the traditional form of a Shaker trestle table, with a base that shares design cues with its companion chairs. Foot-to-leg transitions on the Table mimic the back leg-to-rung transition in the Chairs, with visible through-tenon joinery featured prominently in the aesthetic and strength of each element.
Minimal in its use of materials, but substantial in both appearance and strength, the Hancock Table is an ideal centerpiece for any dining area, naturally pairing with nearly any chair in our portfolio.
