My debt is to the craftsmen who make our furniture. They are Thos. Moser – not me, them. – Tom Moser

Nathan Blackwell

Craftsperson, 2023

Nate’s passion for woodworking began at an early age when he would visit the Thos. Moser showroom in Freeport with his family, admiring the craftsmanship and timeless beauty of the furniture. Now, as a skilled woodworker, he finds deep satisfaction in transforming raw lumber into heirloom-quality pieces that will last for generations. His favorite process is lamination, particularly when crafting the arm of the iconic Thos. Moser Continuous Arm Chair. The precision and artistry of cutting veneer-thin layers, gluing them, and shaping them by hand make it an incredibly rewarding experience.

What Nate values most about his colleagues is the patience and expertise they process and, whose keen attention to detail elevates every piece of furniture they create. Nate takes immense pride the moment a finished piece undergoes its final inspection, knowing that he has crafted something of permanence and exceptional quality.

“There’s something incredibly satisfying about working with your hands to bring out a shape in the wood. You take a raw material, something square, and turn it into something graceful and functional. It’s not just about the technique—it’s about the artistry in shaping it.”
