My debt is to the craftsmen who make our furniture. They are Thos. Moser – not me, them. – Tom Moser

Alex Theofanidis’ Top 5 Moser Essentials

When we launched our catalog in October, we couldn’t help but wonder: Which pages would captivate our customers? Which familiar pieces, reimagined in a fresh light, would have that wow factor, and which items would interior designers select for their clients? To help answer these questions, we turned to Alex Theofanidis, lead designer and owner of Studio Alpha Interiors. We asked her to share the five pieces from our collection she believes are timeless additions to any home. Here’s what she had to say.

Bates Bed

“I was so excited to see this bed in the catalog. Its classic cottage/Jenny Lind form makes it a perfect fit for any classic New England bedroom. Now that I’ve seen it in the catalog, I am planning to specify it for an upcoming project. ” -AT

The Bates Bed pays homage to the bobbin and spool beds of the early 1800’s. Challenging the expectations of solid wood, the Bates Bed’s rounded corners are carved from a solid block of wood and joined to the leg with an interlocking mortise and tenon joint. The Bates Side Table shares the same tapered leg as the bed creating a unified look throughout the collection.

“The new designs of Thos. Moser are so great because they have a modern flare but the craftsmanship elevates to another level. I can see this coffee table in any transitional or modern space. “

The Hartford Coffee Table borrows its simplicity from traditional Shaker designs, and its light, contemporary profile from Danish minimalism. The recessed, oval-shaped top of the table sits on three legs, rather than the expected four, offering a contemporary take on the traditional coffee table.

“If I could specify one dining table time and time again, it would be the Wishbone dining table. It’s a beautiful statement piece for any level of dining area.” -AT

The Wishbone Extension Table is Thos. Moser’s first extension table with self-storing leaves to maximize your space and seating potential. It comes with two 22” leaves that are hidden below the table top surface. This table comfortably sits 4-6 people while closed and a max of 10 when it’s fully extended, taking it from 76” to 120”.

Sequel table by bathtub and plant

“The timeless pedestal side table. I absolutely love this table. It’s so beautifully designed. It’s simple yet its pedestal base sets it apart from any other side table I’ve come across.” – AT

Few occasional pieces offer more visual impact than our Sequel Table. Made of solid, hand-finished North American hardwood, the table features three legs that arc as they rise, forming a reverse taper. The legs culminate at a single, hand-turned column that rises to the base of the tabletop. The tabletop of the Sequel Table is crafted from color-matched hardwood and celebrates the play of natural grain structures. Its edge is finished with a slight taper and is secured to its supporting structure.

“The classic of all classic spindle armchairs. This is a defining piece by Thos. Moser. I believe it to be an heirloom piece for anyone who purchases it because it truly is timeless. The two-tone wood is a favorite accent that creates a statement but doesn’t overpower the space.”-AT

Since Tom Moser first introduced the Continuous Arm Chair some four decades ago, it has become our signature piece and has consistently remained a customer favorite. Taking several years to perfect, this classic chair embodies our enduring commitment to functionally driven objects, ornament-free simplicity, and the celebration of traditional materials and woodworking techniques.
