Bridging Eras: A Denver Square Home’s Modern Makeover

In the heart of Denver, Colorado, stands a home that blends historical significance and modern revival. Transformed under the guidance of interior designer Emily Tucker of Emily Tucker Design, it is a project that she says, “This Denver Square-style house is as much an homage to tradition as it is a celebration of contemporary living.”

The objective was clear: honor the building’s architectural heritage while infusing it with elements that would make it practical and inviting for today’s lifestyle. Emily embraced this challenge with enthusiasm and creativity. The homeowners had specific desires for their renovated space: a bright and welcoming environment conducive to entertaining, a stark contrast to the previously drab and dark interiors. They sought a home that reflected their taste—vibrant and filled with light and color.

One of Emily’s first inspirations for the home came from – Thos. Moser, a name she had been familiar with for years and famed for their dedication to joinery and traditional building techniques. It was the perfect fit for her project, which sought to respect history while looking towards the future. The selection of the Eastward chairs, stools, and bench in the kitchen exemplified this ethos, seamlessly blending with the overall design vision.

Emily’s approach to interior design is pragmatic yet imaginative. She often advises clients to design spaces for their everyday lives rather than creating areas that serve no purpose beyond aesthetic appeal. This philosophy was evident in every corner of the Denver Square house, bringing functionality and beauty together in harmony.

“I am always pushing for clients to choose pieces of quality. The bitterness of poor quality lasts much longer than the initial sticker shock!”

The joy of rejuvenating spaces that have lost their spark is a sentiment that Emily cherishes. She finds satisfaction in breathing new life into homes, rekindling the spirit that once filled their halls. Quality over quantity is a mantra she lives by, urging her clients to invest in furniture that endures, both in style and durability. The natural wood of the Thos. Moser furniture introduced warmth and texture, essential ingredients in creating a layered and inviting interior that will remain contemporary and stylish for years.
